All these pieces are Cone 10 reduction fired (hence why the clear glaze appears celadon and blue). They are each made with porcelain (either Babu or Nara) and coated with a Black Mountain slip that has some black oxide in it to deepen the black. The surface textures are either an oxide applied through wax resist on top of glaze, velvet underglaze applied beneath glaze, or a commercial decal.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI know this might be crazy, but I was looking online for a way to buy Pete Hornberger's mug. I looked high and low, but it didn't seem possible. Then I stumbled onto your blog, and saw that you made a great replica! Is there anyway you can make one for me and I could pay for it? Thanks!

ReplyDeleteHi! Took me a few days to see this comment. I'm definitely willing to make another replica. I need to post my latest pic of the one I have, but it can be really perfected with another pass at it. The one I made is really close, but it's a lot larger. I'm very busy right now, so it will take 4-6 weeks to complete. You can email me: juliemcnelis@gmail.com and we can set up the purchase through my Etsy account. Glad you stumbled across me... I looked everywhere to buy one and couldn't find it anywhere!
